Opening up history-charged and exciting realms of adventure.
Kufstein Fortress has, for over 800 years, always been a place visited by many different people. However, in the first few centuries it was hostile armies who sought to conquer the fortress. These days, the impressive landmark is very popular with people from across the globe. Today, many centuries later, we offer an exciting and variety-packed agenda for guests of all ages. The range on offer extends from adventure-packed guided tours, to a trip to our museums and exhibitions, to a dignified ‘castle lord’s feast’ in the Festungswirtschaft (Fortress Inn).
‘Festungswirtschaft Kufstein’ provides hearty, traditional meals for individual visitors and for travel groups. Along with perfect service you also get to enjoy the unusual historic ambience of the stylish snugs and the relaxed atmosphere in the managed ‘Schlossgarten’. ‘Festungswirtschaft Kufstein’ is open during fortress opening hours and is also an ideal location for company events, promising an incomparable ambience for weddings, Christmas celebrations and birthday parties. One special highlight is the popular ‘castle lord’s feast’, which is known well beyond the fortress walls.
GUIDES offer guided tours through the fortress for individuals and for travel groups during standard opening hours and on request. During the summer season a guided tour takes place daily.
The ‘Festung audio app’ provides various, theme-specific audio tours in different languages, along with a GPS-based treasure hunt for children and youngsters.
The vast bastion high above the town, on the lush banks of the River Inn, has for many centuries been an insurmountable barrier at the entrance to the Inntal Valley. Many years later, we are endeavouring to make Kufstein Fortress as accessible as possible to people who have special requirements. Due to the historic and solid construction, this is only partly possible. In the interim, we do however offer a variety of aids to assist - so the majority of the fortress facility provides barrier-free accessibility.
