Barrier-free Kufstein Fortress
All the information for your barrier-free visit is available here
The vast bastion high above the town, on the lush banks of the River Inn, has for many centuries been an insurmountable barrier at the entrance to the Inntal Valley. Many years later, we are endeavouring to make Kufstein Fortress as accessible as possible to people who have special requirements. Due to the historic and solid construction, this is only partly possible. In the interim, we do however offer a variety of aids to assist - so the majority of the fortress facility provides barrier-free accessibility.
Your ascent aids to the museum areas
From the main entrance in the new visitor centre you enjoy barrier-free access to the fortress via the Kaiser Maximilian panorama cable car. From there you can explore the external area. Upon advance request we can bring you via another lift directly to the museum of local history. Should you require further information, please contact the fortress administration team directly.
Barrier-free events in the Kaiserturm tower and the Festungsarena
Along with the museum areas, there is also barrier-free access to the event areas in the Kaiserturm tower and also to Festungsarena. Should you be attending an event in the Kaiserturm tower, our event team will provide barrier-free access to both storeys in the Kaiserturm tower. We would ask you to please let us know before the event.
Barrier-free access to the Festungsarena is also available. Nonetheless, should you require assistance, please get in touch. Together with the event organiser, we will coordinate your barrier-free access to the Festungsarena.
